Most Wanted: Skin Care January 2018

January had me thinking about my New Year’s resolutions. While many of us thinks of resolutions like more exercise, healthy diet or work related goals, I was thinking a lot about my skin.

Over the cold autumn and winter months it has become very tired, dull and dry. And the fact that I crossed the 30 mark last year doesn’t seem to help.

Of course great skin doesn’t just appear with using the newest, most expensive skin care. A healthy diet and plenty of water play the biggest part I guess. But a bit of extra help from the outside doesn’t hurt.

So I had a look around the online shops and some of my favorite bloggers and came up with a wishlist that I think may help my tired skin. Here are a few products I would love to try:

Untitled

(one) Everyone talks about the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser and I couldn’t be happier Glossier’s products are finally available in the UK. At £15 this cleanser is super affordable. The pH-balanced, creamy gel formula is made with a blend of five skin conditioners so your face is supposed to be left feeling healthy and soft, never tight.

(two) This REN toner is free from harmful chemicals. It uses willow bark to gently remove impurities and unclog pores, exactly what I need right now. And at £13 another affordable product.

(three) Bubble masks are everywhere and I had my eye on this Rodial Snake Oxygenating & Cleansing Bubble mask. The detoxifying bubble mask generates O2 bubbles to remove dirt, dead skin cells and excess oil revealing a brighter-looking complexion – Yes please! At £48 it is on the more expensive side, however, 8 sachets are in a pack.

(four) / (five) Both GlowGlam products are masks and have been all over the blogsphere last year. So naturally I want to give them a try. The Clearing Treatment Glam To Go is their most Advanced Clearing Treatment developed to help fight common skin concerns. The Brightening Treatment on the other hand is supposed to help to create the brightest, lightest & luminous perfect skin. The small 15g size is perfect to give it a try or take with you while travelling.

(six) / (seven) I think these products will most likely stay on my wishlist. Simply due to their pricing. But one can dream and maybe there is one of you out there reading this who would like to invest in such high end products. If you do, let me know if the La Mer products worked for you, because the reviews for La Mer are great. The Creme De La Mer Moisturizing Cream promises for ‘skin appear firmer, the look of lines, wrinkles and pores to appear less visible, for skin to look virtually ageless’. That is a bold claim. Alongside the moisturizer you can use the Eye Expression Cream.  Puffiness, fine lines, dark circles and other signs of stress, fatigue and daily life gently fade in appearance.

(eight) I have actually tried this product before – the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I received a little sample and was able to use it for a couple nights and I loved it. The smell is divine – the lavender sends you right to sleep. The concentrate is supposed replenish the skin’s moisture level over night.

(nine) This day time serum sounds amazing and just what dull skin needs. The Sunday Riley C.E.O Rapid Flash Brightening Serum helps skin look firmer and plumper, as youthful bounce and an even tone are restored – sounds amazing. The concentrate is infused with 15 percent ultra-stable, advanced vitamin C for enhanced tone, clarity, and visible brightening. I am definitely sold to this. Again, not on the cheap side, but usually small amounts of serums and concentrate do the trick – it may last you a while. #

(ten) Now I’ve got to be honest, I have never heard of these drops before. But when I came across them, I got intrigued. The Tan-Luxe Illuminating Self-Tan Drops are added to your usual moisturizer or face oil and promise no streaks, no smells and instead a a flawless, glowing complexion. I don’t know about your face, but mine could do with a bit of colour. And the boosting and smoothing properties of Raspberry Seed Oil, Vitamin E and Aloe Vera will help with the extra glow.

So there you have it, my ten Most Wanted skin care products I would love to give a go.

Have you tried any of them? What are your experiences? What are your go-to products to make your skin glow again?

Isabella.

Current make up routine products

Makeup is no different than clothes and accessories – it’s embellishments for your face. And it also gives you creative freedom. You get to have that moment in front the mirror every morning and give yourself self-love. You’re making yourself up beautiful, which is essentially self-love.

You rarely see me without make up. It is something I enjoy doing and something that makes me feel better. My skin is in no way bad and I could probably go without make up, but just adding that layer of foundation, a bit of blush and mascara and you feel like new.

And as Michelle Phan describes it, it is a way of self-love, taking some time for yourself and using make-up as a form of creativeness.

I have a pretty set and simple routine and don’t tend to use too many products. So this post will be short and sweet. Here are my current favorite products:

Untitled

  1. First things first: primer. I am using the Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer £12.99.
  2. I tend to use different foundations and I am always on the hunt for the perfect shade. However, the foundation I always seem to go back to is the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation, currently in Cameo £7.99.
  3. This concealer is life. I got it for my birthday two weeks ago and it blew my mind. Great coverage and texture, I’m loving it: Benefit Bo-ing Brightening Concealer. Very tempted to try the Airbrush Concealer as well. At £17.50 on the more expensive side, but as it seems it will last me for a long time.
  4. I am in love with the Benefit Dandelion line and the oldie but goodie posie tint. I like to keep my complexion ‘rosey’ as I feel it goes best with my skin and hair color. And I just simply love pink! Again probably not the cheapest products ranging at around £24 per item, but they will last you a while.
  5.  Posie tint
  6. Dandelion Dew Liquid Blush
  7. On to the lips my all time favorite lipstick is the Chanel Coco Rouge Shine lipstick in 91 – Boheme £28. It is an intense pink color but rather than being matte, the color is sheer and shiny and can be build up in intensity.
  8. Another lipstick and latest addition is the Rituals Lip Shine in Cotton Candy £13.50. Very similar to the Chanel Coco Rouge but half the price.
  9. And last but not least: the eyes. I like to keep them simple with just mascara and cat-eye eyeliner look. The mascara I am using is the Maybelline Colossal Mascara in 100% Black £6.99.
  10. The cat eye look is achieved with my trusty Essence Liquid Eyeliner £2.50.

And that’s my daily look done!

See you next time,
